The Periodical Publishers Association (PPA) has created a new initiative to raise awareness of the diversity within the magazine industry. Entitled ‘Magazine Week’ this cross-industry campaign is due to run from 17-23 September 2007 activities will involve retailers, publishers and wholesalers.
The PPA briefed The Studio to devise and create an entire advertising campaign, to include photography and art direction using three straplines – ‘Buy a magazine... and unwind, be informed and be entertained’. The winning concept was to create a ‘magazine moment’ where one’s imagination is allowed to run wild and to house the reader in his/her own private world.
Christian Gould, Creative Head, said “the challenge was to create a campaign-able idea that would work across all media – bringing the page to life worked well and will look stunning at every level”.
A combination of the three adverts, designed by The Studio will appear in a range of consumer titles for NatMags, IPC, Emap, BBC and Future Publishing. Retailers such as Tesco and Menzies across the country will feature point of sale branding and in-store promotional material to highlight the individual store’s activity.
Commenting on the advertising, Nicola Rowe, Director of Circulation of PPA, said “thanks to The Studio, we have a great campaign and I’m looking forward to seeing the response we receive from consumers and publishers alike”.
