| illuminating ideas Mattel's Barbie is the number one fashion doll in the USA and in many other countries worldwide, her product range covers 16 consumer categories - and her barbie.com website attracts 51m visits a month. With a brand so popular with girls aged 2-11, it has always been a challenge for Mattel to create fresh new concepts for each season, but The Studio has always been there to help. Whether designing a bedroom set of mini-furniture or a range of sterling silver jewellery, The Studio adheres strictly to the Barbie brand guidelines. What's more, says Managing Director Sally Smith: "We test all our concepts on our own daughters or nieces -and over the years we've developed an instinctive understanding of exactly what works for our junior target markets." | |
| brilliant results Currently preparing to launch a Barbie '12 Dancing Princesses' range of Christmas decorations, The Studio always works between six and eighteen months ahead of the seasons. Maja of Mattel says: "The Studio is a design agency I deal with on a daily basis, and they're exceptionally easy to get along with. They have an excellent grasp of what the Barbie brand is all about - plus they understand that there's so much more to Barbie than just pink!" |
