Corporate & Consumer Communications : Magazine Week

CASE STUDY
bright people
The Periodical Publishers Association (PPA) has created a new initiative to raise awareness of the sheer breadth and range of magazines available to consumers in the UK today with the ultimate aim of increasing readership. Entitled Magazine Week, this cross-industry campaign ran from 17-23 September 2007 and activities involved retailers, publishers and wholesalers. The PPA briefed The Studio to devise and create an entire advertising campaign, to include photography and art direction using three straplines 'Buy a magazineÉ and unwind, be informed and be entertained.'
illuminating ideas
The winning concept was to create a magazine moment where one's imagination is allowed to run wild and to house the reader in his/her own private world. Christian Gould, Creative Head, said "the challenge was to create a campaign-able idea that would work across all media - bringing the page to life worked well and looked stunning at every level". A combination of the three adverts, designed by The Studio appeared in the titles of a wide range of publishing houses . Retailers such as Tesco and WHSmith across the country featured point of sale branding and in-store promotional material to highlight the individual store's activity.
brilliant results
"The Studio understood exactly what we were trying to achieve and came up with a great concept. We're delighted with the campaign and the response from consumers and publishers alike. " Nicola Rowe, PPA's Director of Circulation
